BIG HEART ACTIVITY BOOKS

Noggin released a series of digital Activity Books featuring the world and characters of Big Hearts. The three books focused on themes like empathy, self-expression and identity, and embracing feelings.
I created all the 2D visual elements for this project, including the book covers, backgrounds, puzzle and game components, UI elements, additional characters, etc.
Book 1: Showtime
The main setting for this book was in a children’s theater, where users discover the importance of empathy. Games include designing your own character, matching feeling masks with expressions, and decorating a greeting card with animated stickers.
Book 2: A Day With Kale
The second book in the series features Kale in Hawaii, celebrating his identity as a Filipino-American. I illustrated detailed colorful backgrounds for this book, along with games like paint by number, seek and find, etc.
Book 3: Feeling Monster Mountain
The third book in the series has a video game theme, with fun activities that focus on acknowledging and recognizing emotions. I took inspiration from platformer side scroller games to create the background and overall look. This project was especially fun because it involved developing the monster characters in the story.
